Our Fifth Baxter Graduation

Today is Sunday, December 7, 2008.  Steve and I now have 5 graduations under our belt since we've been here at Baxter Institute.  That's really hard to believe.

I cannot even begin to describe the way I feel about these students and their dedication to learning all they can to better prepare themselves to preach the gospel of Christ.  Well, I guess I CAN begin because that's just what I'm doing now.

Beginning in September of this year, we began having our graduating students to our home for dinner.  We started doing this the first year we were at Baxter and have continued it each year.  If my count is correct, so far we have had 43 single students and 22 families to dinner.  Was it a lot of work?  Yes.  Was it worth it?  DEFINITELY!

This year we sat around our table and shared memories, dreams and plans for the future with:

The Alonso family, the Juvenal Jiménez family, the Sebastian Jiménez family, the Navarrete family, Ricardo Borda, Cristian Corrales, Saúl Espinal, Joel Mendoza, Alberto Mendoza, Walter Osorio, Fernando Ospina and Luis Tojín. (See Photos)  Also, Glen Hall, Jeremias Santos and Sergio Mendoza (See Photos).

On Saturday, December 6, these students graduated from Baxter Institute.  Some will go back to their home countries; some will go to other countries; some will work with teams; some will work alone.  I will miss them.
